This Harvard Business Review article may be a few years old, but its message is just as relevant today. It highlights a challenge we see time and again in leadership programs: training alone doesn’t create lasting change.

Two key insights particularly resonate with us at TeamPath:

  • Training Alone Doesn’t Work – Organizations invest heavily in leadership development, yet many leaders slip back into old habits because the surrounding system—culture, structure, and processes—hasn’t evolved to support new behaviors.

  • Leadership Development Must Be Integrated – For training to be effective, it needs to be embedded within real work challenges, backed by senior leadership, and connected to broader cultural transformation.

We also recognize that deeper systemic issues often need to be tackled before real change can take hold. That’s why we emphasize addressing these challenges upfront when designing leadership and transformation programs.
